Ah, kids....

So, this isn't really an "oh my god" post. I just think my daughter is the funniest person in the world!

D: "Mom, I got yellow in my nose."
Me: "Yellow?"
D: Yeah, yellow in my nose.
Me: ?? Oh, you have yellow boogers?
D: Yeah, yellow boogers.

Getting out the car to go into daycare:

D: It's raining on me!
Me: Yep, you're getting wet.
D: Let's get me warm.

Oh, the meaningful conversations we have.

Ok, here it goes...

This is my first real "Oh My God!" post. Let me just say right up front that this post will have no substance whatsoever.

Oh my god, so the gubanatorial race in MN is down to the wire. Well, really it's decided, but I'm deluding myself into thinking that those few outstanding precincts will make a difference. But that's not the issue! The issue is that the race is down to the wire, and when I got up this morning to read the results in the crappy "newspaper" we have here, there was no paper!!! How do you deliver the paper late ON THE DAY AFTER AN ELECTION!!! When the race for governor is 48% to 49%????

My second rant for the day is this... How in God's name do the citizens of my district elect ALL democratic candidates except for the Governor??? Who falls under category (a) from yesterday's post? Ok, they did elect a state rep that's a republican, but that doesn't count, because he is the incumbent and he's been in politics since the dawn of time. Why, God, why?

Election Day!

So, it's election day. Woo hoo. Can you tell that my enthusiasm level is less than abundant? Granted - midterm elections are not usually the height of excitement. But this one is particularly disheartening. Do we not have ONE political candidate who is either not a) a total and complete idiot, b) an alcoholic pedophile, or c) a racist? Pretty much every candidate I can thing of off the top of my head fits into one of these categories. Even the ones I voted for! I voted for a Lt. Governor who apparently has been asleep for the last 5 years, because she didn't know what E85 fuel is. What??!? C'mon!! As a woman, you need to represent better.

Attack ads have gotten ridiculous. Where is the political advisor out there who says, "Hey, let's try a new strategy... Let's be crazy and actually talk about the issues." I know, it seems risky. But give it a try - voters will respect you for it.

And let's talk about John Kerry for a just a moment. I voted for Kerry in the 2004 election. I still believe he was a better candidate than GWB. But! John, know your strengths and weaknesses. Being funny is not one of your gifts. Please stop trying. You make yourself, and all of us who supported you, look like idiots. Again, think "high road." You don't have to try to joke that GWB is an idiot. We all know he's an idiot. Talk about why he's an idiot - the issues.

And finally, if you havent's seen it yet, you need to watch the Daily Show Rock.

God Bless America.

Tim Meadows in not funny.

There's something I've been holding in for a while now, and I have to let it out. I know this might offend some people, but I just can't live the lie any longer. Tim Meadows is not funny.

I have never seen a Tim Meadows sketch on SNL that I thought was funny. The only one that even comes close (it maybe classifies as mildly amusing) is the Ladies' Man. And that was taken WAY too far when it was made into a movie.

My beloved Jon had Tim Meadows on his show last night. The saddest part about my confession is that it has diminished Jon somewhat, in my eyes, to have hosted such an unfunny comedian.

I'm sure Mr. Meadows is a very nice man. Maybe he is funnier in person.
